LM’s history dates back to 1947, in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighbourhood of Montreal. It was here, in the back of a family home, that Pierre-Paul Lamarre, a young mechanic with an entrepreneurial spirit, founded “Lamarre Électrique enr.” The modest, makeshift workshop was set up in an old stable converted into a repair shop. From the beginning, the company benefitted from strong family involvement: Pierre-Paul handled the repairs, his wife Irène winding the stators, and his father Raymond lent a hand.
Together, they laid the foundation for a solid craft business, driven by hard work, precision, and word of mouth. The years that followed were marked by a steadfast commitment to quality service and genuine customer relationships. In 1979, Robert Lamarre, the founder’s son, took over the leadership of the company alongside his partner Gilles Delisle.
Motivated by a desire to modernize and expand the business, the two young partners launched an ambitious phase of growth. They moved to larger premises, diversified their services, recruited new talent, and embraced cutting-edge technologies. Despite economic downturns, they persevered, evolving LM into a more industrial structure while maintaining its family spirit.
Rooted in this tradition of passion and commitment, LM is now a leading Quebec company specializing in the distribution, sale, rental, and repair of rotary machines and their control systems. Building on its evolution and adaptability, LM has grown into a large organization, all while staying true to its core values: proximity, integrity, reliability, and service excellence.
Today, LM operates across six specialized divisions—Pumps, Energy, Control, Maritime, Electromechanical, and Mechanical Service —allowing it to provide comprehensive, customized technical solutions to clients across various industrial sectors. Its ability to understand the unique challenges of each project has established LM as a strategic partner, recognized for its expertise and flexibility.
